Kengo Kito, Takehito Koganezawa, Nanae Mitobe, and yang02
October 19 – November 7
The exhibition “COMBINE!” will revisit a once-radical form of collage from the early 1950s in which a painted surface was combined with photographic images and three-dimensional objects. It will explore the changing implications of this technique among contemporary artists: Kengo Kito incorporates glitter, glass shards, and polyester fabric into his acrylic canvas; Takehito Koganezawa has created a new series of work comprised of abandoned neon tubes and wooden panels; Nanae Nitobe has attached an electric guitar to a life-size portrait she painted; and yang02 generates images free from their own hand using DIY drawing machines. Bridging urban and pictorial spaces, the exhibition will showcase these four artists, each of whom have a different interpretation of the historical collage technique. The exhibition is curated by rin art association, Takasaki.
